That could be both needlessly convoluted or genius. There is a lot of potential there, say, ponies from the pony resistance infuriating or trying to travel through a town and have a physiological horror drama where you never quite know whom you can trust. They may have their own code words and crap, but it wouldn't matter at some point (I suppose that point even the Thing comes partly to mind). Did you have any characters or other AU elements in mind aside from the lose concept?

Plenty of opportunity for both Stockholm syndrome and Reverse Stockholm syndrome (or is it Lima syndrome now?).

I know this, lately my pony desires have centered on mystery. I want to make small mystery style stories but my craving is for larger ones. It's less defined that a specific AU idea but more of a desire of tone; some mix of haunting and /comfy/. It can be murder or whatever else. Now, less pony related, I have been tinkering with the idea of a horror game where your being hunted by creepy divergent humans, with the plot twist being that the majority of humanity went on a very strange transhuman path and what is creepy and divergent to the humans of this setting is normal(ish) humans from a lost colony who were none too pleased at new mainstream humanity's attempt at contacting and reincorporating them into galactic society. I only mention that as that is an almost an inverse of the Daybreakers plot.
