Most Americans don't know anything at all about the origin of our national anthem, but it's a very inspiring and powerful true story.

The deal was that if the US flag fell over the course of the night, we would surrender. Over the night, bombs flew, but great unnamed Patriots climbed up to where the flag was flying and held it aloft. One by one they were killed. One by one another Patriot scrambled up to keep our flag flying, knowing their death was a distinct possibility. Many, many Patriots died to hold our flag aloft to make a very powerful statement - we will never submit, we will never surrender though it may mean our own death!

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there
Oh say, does that Star spangled banner yet wave?
On the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Now you know. Remember it always.

Jim is a Patriot who served in our military. I would imagine he instilled certain principles in Ron. I see the 8kun flag in that light, illuminated not by rockets, but by lightening (storm). No matter what they have thrown at us, we are not defeated.
