my plebeian ass normally prefers the more radio friendly songs, especially in the case of Epica, but the opening track is legit so fucking cheap lol. It's like an amalgamation of a bunch of Nightwish samples plus this little generic sample that I first heard in the Arma 3 theme (probably common enough that it has a name but I'd have to ask someone who actually knows music). nothing in the album is as good as their big hits from back in the day but I'm glad they played it safe and didn't try to be cuhrazy and special because I was in the mood for their kind of sound
