I had a cat which seemed to be very attentive and observing of all human things. After the cat died I wondered where its soul went. Later I met a friend of a friend who had a new dog with the same fur pattern as my cat. Fast forward again and one day someone (a spirit) approached me with the "cat's soul" and it turned out it wasn't really a soul, it was an energy compound which contained what I had put into it and what it accumulated as a dog. The energy belonged to me so it was given back to me. I used it to summon a real spirit and the "personality" of the cat was used as a reference for what I was looking for. I think that's what you have to do if you want to create something sustainable from animals.

This dog is an example in reverse: I was bothered by an infernal dog spirit so I sent it to get a body to get rid of it. Someone who visited later had a new dog with a very strong energy, I realized it was the incarnated hellbeast. Despite not being my dog it was very obedient. When I took these pics I told it to stand up and stand still and it did.
