I'd like to give you the current status of my longer-term/stalled projects.
Project #1: "I somehow became a magical girl" 105 color CG page project. My proofreader isn't getting back to me, and it's stuck in limbo. See other temporary thread for the details.
Doujin eroge project #2 "Succubus Lolika": 2 pages done out of 20.... Honestly this *should be the easiest,* and it's not thaaaaat hard, it's just quite time-consuming and psychologically I often question if I really want to do it, so nothing gets done quickly. The final release will be a translated eroge. The main problems are 1) a few tricky translations, 2) typesetting all the little bubbles, and 3) Visual novel engine learning problems.
I still haven't figured out how to do a lot of the stuff I want to do with renpy which is pissing me off that I can't just jump in and get to work without wasting hours up-front experimenting and trying to work through tutorials.
So I'm probably going to release a pared down game with fewer features than the original just to save my sanity. That means fewer audio tracks, less save points, and a much uglier GUI that doesn't let you toggle between voice options, or click on a square to replay a voice.
Unfortunately, the eroge requires more steps than normal. I wasn't able to rip the audio from the game, so I will have to record the audio manually with Audacity and then recreate the game, which is easier than it sounds since it's short. I am a little frustrated that I can't just pick up Renpy and work with it, and I actually have to read tutorials and shit.
I was hoping if I could work on a real eroge then I would have no need to find typesetters anymore. I had even thought about translating some other visual novels if this project worked out well, like Futaba Channel, but I think the time involved would be highly prohibitive. Plus I haven't yet managed to rip the later Futaba Channel Gamess which are the ones that actually interest me. I did manage to rip some of the text from the first Futaba Channel game, but I don't know how to put it back, and I think it's more boring than the later ones anyway.
