I have a traditional Bavarian dress called 'Dirndl' in Blue-White which is pretty neat but I don't normally wear dresses. And the male version with the leather shorts just looks silly.

Host says the whole costume stuff is fake anyway and was invented by city-folk in 19th century to give the inhabitants of the newly formed kingdom of Bavaria that had little in common some unifying identity that was yet distinct from region to region.
