Joy and Bear also have a decelerated healing which would then give some incentive to do something to help it along.

<1/2 health +1 hit die/hour
<3/4 health +1 hit die/2 hours
<full health +1 hit die/8 hours

They aren't required to have rest to regenerate in this way however, they just must not be starving.
