WTF?
I never understood why the US is so polarized between the world's best and 3rd world. Hygiene rules and inspections are super strict here. All places selling food are graded from A to D after audits and have to display this. If D doesn't improve the place is severely fined and / or suspended. There are still occasional sanitary complaints, especially at small eateries and food stalls. It's really hot and humid and without proper hygiene you soon have severe problems and food poisoning.
