New Imageboard Concept in Early Planning Stages Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:02:46 [Preview] No. 9866 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
PROMISEDCHAN (name liable to future change)
There is a new imageboard-software concept in the works. Addressing the problem of powerful moderating positions being compromised and shitting up the board against the will of board communities and their established board culture.
(See: 8/b/, 8/pol/, etc.)
>Nothing that isn't spam or illegal is deleted, ever. You can subscribe to different moderation teams (and bots) to have the shit filtered to your liking. There would be a default moderation team for each board but the default would change if the majority changed the moderators they subscribed to.

>To keep normies from freaking the fuck out a default profile of moderation subscriptions will be applied by default, the default moderation will be decided by an impartial algorithm that takes in to account the modoration most users in a board choose, weighting the chooses by activity.

Unfortunately there is a shortage of skilled /tech/anons who are willing to assist in the planning and development of this new imageboard concept, which is holding back development.

If you're interested in assisting in the development of this new imageboard concept, please go to

>a fully P2P imageboard software

Zerochan exists running off zeronet, fully p2p and decentralized including the domain name.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:07:47 [Preview] No. 9894 del
too bad it's not anonymous in any way.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:07:57 [Preview] No. 9895 del
Why do people still care about zeronet

It's literally a botnet and makes nonsense because i2p exist.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:08:09 [Preview] No. 9896 del
idk, freenet is pretty cool. much cooler than zeronet.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:08:19 [Preview] No. 9897 del
so why aren't we making open source social engineering botnets to move user mass onto imageboards again? shouldn't be too hard to shill, we have some of the world's top shills currently browsing this site.

weechat irc network passwords from pass Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:01:53 [Preview] No. 9861 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
Is there any way I can set up weechat so it picks it's secure passphrase from pass ? With mutt I just pipe the commands in the config file but it doesn't seem to work.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:02:04 [Preview] No. 9862 del
I'm going to respond to my own shit.
Weechat has an option to take the sec password from a file or a environment variable.I currently have an alias for weechat started with that specific environment variable.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:02:14 [Preview] No. 9863 del
That might not be as secure as you think it is, you can see the environmental variables of other processes. try running:
ps e

LynxChan 1.8 Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 22:52:17 [Preview] No. 9807 [Reply] [Last 50 Posts]
What is LynxChan?
LynxChan is a chan engine developed with performance, efficiency and flexibility in mind. It powers several chans ( http://lynxhub.com/lynxchan/res/285.html ) and contains a number of community-created front-ends ( https://gitgud.io/LynxChan/LynxChan-ThirdPartyFrontEnds ).
It offers a number of features, including:
-File deduplication, saving bandwidth, disk space and allowing users to post files without uploading them.
-Overboard, aggregating posts from the whole site on a single place so users can browse more easily.
-Multi-board, allowing users to aggregate posts from only selected boards.
-Extensive anti-spam and anti-flood tools that aim to both impede and reduce damage without inconveniencing users.
-Add-on support, which enables features to be added without the need for a fork.
-Modular front-end and language pack allows for the site owner to customize it without having to change the actual software.

LynxChan 1.8 main addition is multi-lingual support.
This feature allows site owners to specify alternative language packs and front-ends and associate languages to them.
When an user visits the site, the engine seamlessly picks an available language from the user and serves content in that language.

This version brings some other minor features so far:
-More granular and specific verbose modes.
-A terminal command to perform a clean shutdown of the engine.

I'd give you a short ban, but the "Moderate Thread" link gives me the login page even if I'm already logged in, so I'll delete your post with a friendly request not to spam any more.

Please save me from this hell.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:01:10 [Preview] No. 9857 del
There are many good ways to prevent spamming in the way that I've been doing.

Let's say you did block excess repeating words, and I bypassed them by typing in random letters. How to block this? If your post contained random characters which which did not constitute words, block the post.

>inb4 muh japanese / non english text
Let board owners opt-in to support of languages which aren't supported.

>It's a spammer gives advice to a developer episode

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:01:20 [Preview] No. 9858 del
Sorry buddy, but if you're wanting to ban me, you'll have to ban Tor and a shitload of proxies.

I won't spam your board though. You seem nice.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:01:31 [Preview] No. 9859 del
Getting server to look up every word against dictionary to block every post with typos, neologisms, proper nouns. Great thinking. Meanwhile spammer may just take same dictionary to concatenate random words. And markov chain bots, in case if you suggest extending checks. Don't fucking mess with user input.

Anonymous 07/09/2017 (Sun) 23:01:42 [Preview] No. 9860 del
Hmm, didn't think about that. I suppose that's true.
If I come up with anything worthwhile, I'll let you know.

>Who are you?
I am a anon who has decided to help setup a development server for this project.

>What is this?
Quoting from the about page of this project [http://sicpvn.sdf.org/index.html] .

"The concept came from 4chan /jp/ in January 2009.

Reference: https://archive.is/563XI

Meme Magick saw it revived on 8chan /tech/ in September 2015. Development is ongoing.

Reference: https://archive.is/9Xk6j

Here is what was discussed in 2009 (please note that this is a concept and the final script may be entirely different):

>Sussmanashi no Naku Koro ni (すさまなしのなく頃に, Susamanashi no Naku Koro ni, commonly abbreviated as SNAK) is an adult Japanese visual novel developed by /prog/ which will be released as a limited edition on January 3rd, 2038 playable on the PC. Sussmanashi no Naku Koro ni began as a series of prelude short scenarios in the /prog/ fandisc SICP no Shana. The gameplay in Sussmanashi no Naku Koro ni follows a plot line which offers pre-determined scenarios with courses of interaction, and focuses on the MIT course 6.001 and the book Structure and Interpretation of Computer Programs (SICP).

I understand. Its a big effort. Guys like MikeeUSA have my respect for the development they do. If you feel burned out, just take a break. Its cool.

I still think about this VN every other week. I will make it a reality one day, maybe. Check our /lv/ for some free visual novels... when I get time I want to renew my motivation thru playing other's VNs.

I have some really good ideas... it just takes time to build the foundations. I want to install and play with PyGame next. Maybe I will use it to make a mini-level. I feel that even though I am unfocused and going down side paths, all roads lead to SICP - which is a blessing and a curse.

I would also like too see if the community can take up development.
I don't care if there is perhaps no existing work to show besides some transcriptions, i think the idea is good and i wauld like to see it develop.

Look at the contrast of clear web nntp-chan nodes to dank web ones.
>Explains something doesn't it?
Also some users there happen to get i2p memes "somehow". That's the lvl of pesudo-skeritness it's at.

Personally I think the PPM is fine, I mean look at how many pages are on the overchan.random newsgroup.
I'm calling it pesudo-skertiness because it's really not that hard to find but no one goes looking for it.
