My family doesn’t know but I have twitter and I’m honest about using 4chan but I don’t tell anyone what I do here

My brother probably knows I posted on 4chan. My mom is too boomer coded to understand what an imageboard is. I think I'm open enough with my beliefs that neither of them would consider me a nazi. Actions and words mean much more than than the people you associate with.

I don't have any social media so friends always ask what i do all day as they can't comprehend a life without reels and tiktoks
So i always reply there are other parts of the internet other than social media and they probably assume i am Redditor because telling them i use imageboards and explaining them what they are is not worth time or the effort

My cousin introduced me to cuckchan when FiM was first coming out. He probably knows I still lurk even though we don't talk much, let alone talk about the site(s).
My brother name dropped cuckchan a couple of times too.

I don’t tell anyone about it, also a lot of my imageboard usage was during a part of my life when I was depressed/antisocial so I prefer to leave it in the past where it belongs.

My sister used r9k and she knows I’ve used 4chan, but that’s the extent of how much we’ve talked about imageboards.

I don’t plan on telling anybody I meet unless it becomes relevant in a conversation, to most people imageboards are spaces for rejects, bigots, and losers and it rarely helps to tell someone that you were in those spaces unless they have a more nuanced understanding of imageboard culture.

yes actually, i openly talk about my chan endeavors to my irl friends and coworkers, just not family. i think i get pretty privilege bc no one thinks i'm gross or weird for it, they just say i'm cooky.

when i was younger i was actually really lonely and bullied at school, so i used to lurk a lot in some img boards (not necessarily 4chan, cause i had an individuality complex of wanting to be "cooler than that") to feel less lonely, but then i went through puberty at 16 and then irl people wanted to be around me cause i had a glow up. ifit was for fake people to want to talk to me, i preferred the anons that also liked talking about my interests than the people that suddenly just wanted to talk to me cuz they thought i was hot now.

i'm now 20 and my new irls (after moving) say i could do so much better than being in these places, but they don't get that i first found companionship around here. as to why i openly talk about being in image boards: i guess i have a really bad social filter cause i just say things like that very openly + since i'm mostly a neet, all my troubles come from internet issues, so when iwant to talk about it to someone, i always end up saying it. my psychiatrist keeps begging me to leave forums bc they're bad for my mental health sometimes, but i dont think these normies understand what its like to be so badly bullied to a point i had to clean up trash from my bags before getting home and after i tried going to the counselor at school i was made to apologize to my bullies, or constantly threatened, only to be seen differently when older then suddenly everyone pretends they never did anything to you.

yea, i'll stick with the degens, even if part of it was grooming, i was way better treated.

I mean I’m free to tell it when sb ask me, if they’ll think it’s weird, I’m bad person, I do bad things here, I shouldn’t be here I wouldn’t really care, I’m not type of person to think how others see me. And back to the question just my cousin knows but she doesn’t give a fuck what I’m doing here (in fact we both sometimes go on tor browser to find onion links)

And my family… well I can say they knows and don’t know at the same time- they saw me using the sites many times on my computer but they don’t have any fucking clue what’s that

I don't believe I have ever talked to anyone outside of my family about using imageboards. Its just not something that would ever really come up... Maybe I need to find less boring friends?

This is the way I feel about it too. I never used 4chan but I have used many other more obscure boards. The same here, I do not bother telling normies I know and hang out with because it would be considered odd and geeky, maybe even an awkward anti-social loser. Plus they would never understand the culture of imageboards. If they do know about them, they are told all the worst things and might accuse you if you use them. I find it best to keep my online life private from my IRL experiences.

Sounds like you have been treated horribly anon. Hope you are doing better today now that you are grown up. Sad to learn how fucked up society has become, beware counselors and psychiatrists are often a major problem in our society too as most of them are in on the grift to judge, catalog and sell prescriptions to people. I never once found them useful myself, in fact sometimes I think my school counselor used to spy on me and often had a bad feeling he shared personal info to other staff and teachers. People can be cruel at the expense of others and that is why I have very low trust in society and by having such low trust I am doing pretty well myself. I can even blend in with normies very well now and they would never know about my online life.

I do think someone in my family has seen my browser on one of these sites before but I hardly doubt they know what it is let alone what I post on these sites. If anything they glance and think 'that looks weird' if anything. Never once have I been asked about it.

I've only recently started using them because reddit has gotten to censored. I don't see what the stigma is about. Seems that all chans have rules against illegal content. But I still won't tell anyone IRL that I visit chans.

Definitely not. The very few people who know I've even touched 4chan are limited, but they probably dont even know altchans exist.

Then again, a lot of people I know share my mindset, even if they wont admit it. Besides the loli, they'd probably even join in. But thats a big "besides" unfortunately.

Some do, and they share the same mentality as me. Despite this fact, they never actually joined me.

My younger brother knows I lurk on Chans for the lulz and I haven't told anyone else.

People would go on here, say some wild shit that was contrary to all information out there, and actually be right. They'd just spill the beans.

Most people would discredit these guys as memers / liars because what they were saying was so outrageous. But I had been browsing the site long enough to know that they weren't joking. That's the point of posting it. Watching people call you out for lying is funny when you're not
