Too much, news media is saturated every single day about death, war, natural disasters, destruction, crime, societal collapse, uprisings and violent anarchy, censorship, government tyranny, terrorism, you can't get away from the bad news unless you are deliberately burying your head into your own ass and refusing to acknowledge it. Sadly so many choose to do so because it has gotten so bad they can't mentally cope with it.

It won't work, it will just break up the internet further, making people quite platforms or turning to other tricks to access stuff or evade the surveillance like using burner phones/accounts or using AI to fake facial recognition scanning. The more they push this shit the less people will even bother to socialize online so it will push more people to do shit IRL anyway.
