The average human don't mind to use free websites/programs/apps that spy on them, as they think that personal information (like their favorite color) is not that important or relevant/valuable beyond personal space, that it is not really useful info (wisdom).
Meanwhile, big technological companies like Facebook/Meta are specialized in "stealing your data as you are the product", not just to put better/personalized ads, more than likely, and one of the possible uses is, systematically harvesting/collecting private info to send it to a government's databases to feed programs (artificial intelligence) to get better (models of) control over their citizens/you.
