"Here we go again", one might say in their mind as they read the title of this post, reflecting on the many threads of the past that attempted the same task of eradicating /pol/, but I am confident in my ability to fight for my side. In many other imageboards, one can observe the influence of /pol/ and other politically oriented boards on the other boards of the website where content which is questionable by those who frequent /pol/ is posted. It is because of /pol/ that 4chan and 8chan gained coverage on many news websites and television channels as "alt-right" and "neo-nazi" websites with Pepe, a once harmless memetic being, turned into their mascot of hatred and deceit. Similar to the furfags of the past and present, they claim to be under attack and oppressed when presented with that which does not exist within their polticial beliefs, and calls anyone who refutes their points with facts and logical arguments as "shills" and "trolls". The world today is significantly different than the world of the past, and their attempts to bring forth an archaic and failed ideology to seize the present is a most futile attempt that only serves to represent their pathetic nature and blindness. As a quick recap, the points I have defined above shall be outlined here:

1)Those who frequent /pol/ often fail to assimilate within the cultures of other boards and apply their beliefs to places where they need not be present.
2)/pol/ has resulted in the influx of malicious users to 4chan and 8chan due to their actions being documented by the media.
3)Claim oppression when presented with ideas and facts that contradict their own.
4)Refer to those that present differing facts or argumentative refutations as "kikes" instead of dissecting and countering the argument if counterable.
5)Attempts to bring forth an archaic and hateful ideology that serves as a means separate different peoples and initiate war and conflict.

Like all logical and sound arguments, these points will not be easily counteracted, and when read by the odilitime, shall result in the deletion of /pol/ by their discretion.

Is there any way to check who's the board owner other than deletetion/ban log?
Was /AM/ given to someone that held it before or is it some new guy e.g. that one comedically challenged moron that kept whining about imaginary /librejp/ invasions and acted like a total know-it-all cunt despite entire board pretty much telling him to fuck off?

Considering that this imageboard is under flow of refugees from lolifox.org - can you please remove restriction for max threads/hour or raise amount of max threads at least for some boards? Thematic, for example or userboards?
We need to create all threads from our old home and this restriction is too hard.

I had a development server breached that I had an old development copy of the Endchan database (without media).

All users are advised to change their passwords ASAP.

Development server was breached used an redis/ssh exploit. Redis was installed and usually ran as a user but recently doing some development work, I accidentally started it up as root to look something up and left it running. Redis then can write to your ssh keys and insert unwanted keys and allow root access. All files in /root and /home were removed and a note was left:

Luckily I have bandwidth logs on that box and I can see there was nothing transferred out of the box. So my guess is they just deleted the files. The nature in which they left the machine leads me to believe this was an automated attack (plenty of other meaningful data directories were left alone).

The copy of Endchan's data is left untouched on this development server. However the dump that was used to transfer the copy was still likely in the /root directory that was deleted. I will get the date of the data copy as soon as I can do some data recovery on that machine, I estimated the copy to be an early 2016 Q2 dump. This server is now offline.

At Endchan, we want to be as transparent as we possibly can and even though we do not believe anything was leaked, we cannot rule out nothing happen with 100%. And even if we could be certain that nothing was at risk, we still want to report anything of this nature to our users.

Recently (over the past few years), there's been an alarming trend where tech companies have placed it upon themselves ban, censor, deplatform, etc individuals and websites. The CEO of Mozilla wrote a rather alarming blog post advocating for censoring and deplatforming. Regardless of what you're opinion of that blog is, it is quite concerning. What exactly does Mozilla plan to do?
Who knows, it's not the important part here. What is important is how is Endchan going to prepare against possible censorship, delisting from search results, hosting companies shutting down the server for Endchan?
I know there's Linxchan and IRC. However, I feel that those are temporary solutions to a ever growing problem. I understand that staff is currently stretched to it's limit and everyone here is quite busy. I am curious if the staff of Endchan is discussing the current censorship going on and I am curious what safety nets there are in case Endchan gets targeted for any reason.
My personal input is that it's better to prepare for possible censorship, delisting, etc than to be caught off guard and have Endchan taken down completely.

The issue of the Russian ban of Endchan was discussed on the affected boards: /rus/, /librejp/ and /kc/.
Basically all comments expressed the same: every Russian censor "kann mich im Arsche lecken!" So noone cares whatever the Roskomnadzor do and Russian posters should learn how to bypass their shit.

Just wanted to ask if a few things were going/could be implemented:

1) I've seen a lot of people make random posts in threads to test how they can post around multiple boards. Since there's already a /test/ board here, I wanted to ask if it could be put in the front page for new users and lurkers to see it

2) Would emoji support be good on this IB?

3) Would it be good it we made this into a general thread for small updates/fixes on End?
